Abstract
Brodie Bite Diagnosis and Management: Always a Clinical Challenge!
A Brodie Bite-type malocclusion is among the most difficult orthodontic malocclusions to manage. The different diagnostic and treatment aspects of Brodie Bite will be described with a detailed three-dimensional approach. A checklist for recognizing and managing this malocclusion will be presented. Additionally, the advantages of early diagnosis and management will be discussed to prevent progression to a more complex clinical scenario. Treatment mechanics will be shared, covering possibilities ranging from the most conservative to the use of skeletal anchorage combined with surgical treatments, as well as various disocclusion strategies. Difficulties and complications will also be addressed. 3D models and animations will help understand how to manage this difficult malocclusion. Several cases will be used to showcase decision-making processes. The importance of selecting where and how to open the bite, understanding the 3D nature of the problem, and early intervention will be emphasized.
